Steps

  • Fry onion and garlic in 15ml oil for 5 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in spices and cook for 2 minutes before cooling for 5 minutes.
  • Blend cooled onion mixture, half the chickpeas, hummus, and flour into a rough paste.
  • Pulse in remaining chickpeas and nuts until broken down but textured.
  • Divide into 8 portions and flatten into 1.5cm thick burgers.
  • Fry burgers in batches for 4 minutes per side until crisp and golden-brown.
  • Serve in pitta bread with salad, yoghurt, and chilli sauce.
