Steps

  • Melt ghee in a saucepan and fry cumin seeds for 20 seconds.
  • Stir in the onion and cook until soft.
  • Add chilli, ginger, garlic, and salt, then cook for one minute.
  • Add rice, lentils, turmeric, and 400ml water to the pan.
  • Simmer gently for 20-25 minutes until rice and lentils are tender.
  • Stir in garam masala and pepper before serving.
