Steps

  • Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
  • Roll the pastry on a floured surface to a 0.5cm thick rectangle.
  • Spread mustard over the pastry and sprinkle with cheese and pepper.
  • Lay bacon slices on the pastry leaving small gaps between them.
  • Cut the pastry between bacon slices and twist each piece four times.
  • Place twists on the tray and chill for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 220°C.
  • Brush the twists with beaten egg.
  • Reduce oven to 200°C and bake for 25 minutes until golden-brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
