Steps

  • Mix the flour, salt, yeast, spices, orange zest, and sugar in a large bowl.
  • Heat the butter and milk in a saucepan until melted and lukewarm, then whisk in the egg.
  • Pour the warm liquid mixture into the centre of the flour and stir until it forms a ball.
  • Knead the dough for five minutes on a floured surface until smooth.
  • Knead in the dried fruit then let the dough rise in an oiled bowl for 90 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into six portions, roll into balls, and flatten to 1cm thickness.
  • Place on a lined tray and let rise for 45 minutes.
  • Bake at 190°C for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
