Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Heat oil in an ovenproof pan and fry the onion and garlic for 5 minutes.

Add the turmeric, cumin, and rice and stir to coat.

Pour in the stock, cover with a lid, and bake in the oven for 10 minutes.

Remove the rice from the oven and stir in the butter and chopped basil.

Mix the meatball ingredients in a bowl except for the frying oil.

Form walnut-sized meatballs using your hands.

Fry the meatballs in oil for 6 minutes until browned and cooked through.

Stir most of the meatballs into the pilaff and serve topped with remaining meatballs and basil.
