Steps

  • Beat the egg and ricotta in a bowl until smooth.
  • Mix in the flour, baking powder, sambuca, sugar, and orange zest to form a smooth batter.
  • Heat 2cm of oil in a frying pan to 180°C.
  • Drop oiled teaspoons of batter into the hot oil in small batches.
  • Flip the fritters once they puff up and turn golden.
  • Drain the golden fritters on kitchen roll using a slotted spoon.
  • Repeat until all batter is used and dust thickly with sifted icing sugar.
  • Keep warm in a 150°C oven if not serving immediately.
