Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C and grease a 900g loaf tin.
  • Combine the flours, bicarbonate of soda, and salt in a bowl.
  • Whisk the buttermilk, egg, and honey together in a jug.
  • Mix the wet mixture into a well in the dry ingredients.
  • Form a dough, shape into an oval, and place in the tin.
  • Dust with flour and bake for 35 to 40 minutes before cooling.
  • Boil the potato for 15 minutes, then cut into small pieces.
  • Simmer haddock with bay leaf, shallot, and milk in a pan.
  • Sauté onions in butter, then stir in garlic, potato, corn, and beans.
  • Flake the haddock and strain the cooking milk into the onion mixture.
  • Add all remaining seafood and parsley to the pan and warm through.
  • Serve the hot chowder with slices of fresh soda bread.
