Steps

  • Preheat vegetable oil in a deep fat fryer to 170°C.
  • Mix the milk powder, flour, baking powder, and bicarbonate of soda in a bowl.
  • Incorporate 100ml of cream into the dry mixture.
  • Mix in butter and additional cream to form a soft, sticky dough.
  • Shape dough into small balls and fry for 3 minutes until golden.
  • Boil 75ml water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pan to create a syrup.
  • Coat the fried balls in syrup and let them soak for ten minutes.
  • Coat strawberries and raspberries with icing sugar in a separate bowl.
  • Arrange the fruit on a dish and top with the gulab jamun balls.
