Steps

  • Fry the sausages in oil for 10 minutes until browned and transfer to a casserole dish.
  • Fry the bacon pieces until crisp and add them to the sausages.
  • Sauté the sliced onions for five minutes until softened.
  • Add the garlic and cook for 3 minutes until onions are golden-brown.
  • Stir in the chilli powder or paprika and cook for a few seconds.
  • Incorporate tomatoes, stock, purée, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, and herbs.
  • Add the wine or water and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Pour the liquid into the casserole dish and simmer covered for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse the beans, stir them into the casserole, and cook for 10 minutes until thickened.
  • Season with salt and pepper and serve with rice or bread.
