Method

Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Place the pastry on a baking sheet and prick it thoroughly with a fork.

Bake the pastry for five minutes.

Brush the pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with caster sugar.

Bake for another 6-7 minutes until golden-brown.

Dust the hot pastry with icing sugar and cut into long straws.
