Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a 23cm cake tin with butter.
  • Whisk eggs, sugar, milk, oil, vanilla, and 175g of flour until smooth.
  • Split the batter into two bowls, adding 175g flour and 0.5 tsp baking powder to the first.
  • Mix the cocoa, remaining 125g flour, and 0.5 tsp baking powder into the second bowl.
  • Spoon alternating layers of plain and chocolate mixture into the center of the tin.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
  • Cool the cake on a wire rack before serving.
