Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Roll out the pastry into a 25cm by 20cm rectangle.
  • Heat the butter in a frying pan and cook the onion until softened.
  • Combine the cooked onion and sausage meat in a mixing bowl.
  • Place the sausage mixture down the center and cut 3cm slanted slits along the pastry edges.
  • Fold the pastry strips alternately over the meat and brush with egg.
  • Bake for 40 minutes, reducing the heat to 150°C after the first 20 minutes.
