Steps

  • Sift flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder into a bowl and mix milk and oil in another.
  • Combine the ingredients to form a soft dough and knead for 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Let the dough rise in an oiled, covered bowl in a warm place for one hour.
  • Divide the dough into five balls and pulse pistachios, raisins, and sugar into a coarse filling.
  • Preheat the grill to high and heat a heavy baking sheet on the top shelf.
  • Roll dough into circles, fill with the nut mixture, fold over, and pinch edges to seal.
  • Roll into ovals, top with almonds, grill for 2 minutes, and brush with melted butter.
