Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and lightly butter a baking tray.
  • Cream the butter and sugar with an electric mixer and beat in the treacle.
  • Crush cardamom seeds and add to the mixture with flour, soda, spices, and egg yolk.
  • Mix in 30ml of milk to form a dough.
  • Roll dough to 3mm thickness on a floured surface and cut into shapes.
  • Bake for 12 to 14 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
  • Mix icing sugar with lemon juice and decorate the cooled biscuits.
