Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Combine the rice, lamb, onion, herbs, celery, salt, pepper, and tomato purée in a bowl.
  • Place a teaspoon of filling on the vein side of a vine leaf and roll it up like a small cigar.
  • Line an ovenproof dish with tomato slices or extra vine leaves to prevent sticking.
  • Layer the stuffed leaves in the dish with garlic slices, lemon juice, and 150ml of water.
  • Cover with oiled foil and bake for 45 minutes, adding more water if needed.
