Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Heat some butter in an ovenproof pan and fry the apple cut-side down until brown.
  • Add wine, simmer for one minute, then sprinkle with cinnamon and icing sugar.
  • Bake in the oven for ten minutes until the apple is softened.
  • Heat caster sugar in a frying pan until it becomes a deep caramel color.
  • Remove from heat, whisk in butter, cream, and water to form a smooth sauce.
  • Place the apple on a plate and drizzle with the butterscotch sauce.
