Steps

  • Boil the black and green lentils in 480ml of water for 20 minutes until tender.
  • Drain and mash the cooked lentils and set them aside.
  • Fry the onion in olive oil until it colours, then add garlic for a few seconds.
  • Stir in chillies, turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and pepper and cook for one minute.
  • Add the chopped tomato, sugar, and lemon juice and cook for 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the mashed lentils and bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Mix in the chopped coriander and serve.
