Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Hollow out the apple and chop the flesh while keeping the outer shell intact.
  • Cook the apple flesh in 15g of melted butter until softened into a purée.
  • Cool the apple purée for five minutes in a bowl.
  • Bake the apple shell in the remaining butter and brown sugar for 6 minutes at 200°C.
  • Fold the stiff whisked egg whites and grated Cheshire cheese into the apple purée.
  • Stuff the apple shell with the mixture and bake for 6 minutes until puffed.
  • Transfer the baked apple to a plate for serving.
