Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Pulse flour and butter in a food processor until breadcrumbs form.
  • Blend in egg, sugar, and water to create a dough.
  • Roll dough to 1cm thickness and cut into a 25cm circle on a floured surface.
  • Melt butter and sugar in an ovenproof frying pan over medium heat.
  • Add pear, chestnuts, and chilli, then fry for four minutes.
  • Place pastry over the mixture and press the edges into the pan tightly.
  • Bake in the oven for ten minutes.
  • Turn the tarte out onto a plate and serve with ice cream.
