Steps

  • Pre-heat the oven to 220°C.
  • Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl then stir in the sugar.
  • Rub the butter into the flour mixture until it reaches a fine breadcrumb consistency.
  • Gradually add the milk and work into a smooth dough.
  • Let the dough rest for 5 to 15 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 2cm thickness.
  • Cut the dough with a 5cm pastry cutter using a sharp tap without twisting.
  • Brush the tops with beaten egg or dust with flour.
  • Place on a greased tray and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden-brown.
  • Cool slightly and serve while warm.
