Steps

  • Mix the flour, salt, and dried yeast in a bowl using your fingers.
  • Rub the softened butter into the flour until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
  • Combine the warm milk and warm water.
  • Add the liquid to the flour and mix by hand to form a ball of dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 20-25 minutes until elastic and smooth.
  • Place dough in the bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1-1.5 hours.
  • Knock back the risen dough on a floured work surface.
  • Divide into eight pieces, roll into balls, flatten slightly, and place on a tray.
  • Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 220°C.
  • Dust the rolls with rice flour and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden.
  • Separate the rolls and serve warm with butter.
